Very fertile Lily Soil produces abundant bloom.Be sure to use containers without holes!
Lily soil recipe gleaned from the web-(source unknown)

I found this recipe circulated on the pond forum with no source or author.
50 lbs. bonemeal,
30lbs. bloodmeal,
10 lbs of 10-10-10.
That is 5 parts, 3parts, 1part.
Put fertilizer in bottom of the pot then make a mix of garden soil and well composted manure, mix a third of the way up the pot, then put in ag-safe fertilizer tablets. Add in more manure, garden soil mix, leaving 4 inches to the top of the container. Then Fred puts in clay based pond soil
within 1 inch to the top of the pot (seals the fertilizer, manure, garden soil mix) Top with 3/8 to 1/2 inch size river gravel. OOPS- don't forget the plant!

How much fertilizer do you put in the bottom of the pot? It just says to put it in the bottom but not how much. Also, how many fertilizer tablets?

In a container that is 23"x 11" you could put in 10-12 oz.of the fertilizer mix. In that same size container you distribute 8- 10 water lily tablets.

Results THe Lilies were divided and repotted in the above soil last fall and now are loaded with blooms. the leaves are dark and thick and are now crowded and growing up and over the water line like lotus. Leaves need to be trimmed often in order to feed thge fish and leaves seem to last much longer (one month six weeks).

Yo
No additional Fertilzer needed and almost no leaf drop and you will have too many lilies yeh!
